COMPETITION FORMAT

The size of the competition stage is :   10 metres wide x 8 metres deep

PLEASE NOTE: Each entrant is permitted to enter one age division in each category Solos and Duos only ONCE.  Dancers that are in crews/teams are authorized to register with more than one crew, as long as the crew is from the same dance school or studio, and provided that they fall within the accepted age category. There is no extra fee for a double-up entrant.

SOLOS

The Solo competition will be divided into Heats with one Final. All Solo entrants will compete on stage in Heats along with other Solo entrants. Each Heat will have a maximum of 5 entrants. The top 2 of each Heat will then be placed in the Solo Final which will be run after all Solo Heats have concluded. The winner of the Solo Final of each age division, will receive entry to the World Finals in Glasgow, August 2020.

A maximum of two (2) or three (3) minutes, depending on your age division, shall be allotted for each Solo dance Heat. You shall also be given 1 minute prior to your actual dance Heat for preparation of any props or equipment needed on stage. Props should be reasonably light and not over-sized for easy and fast mobility in and out of the performance area.

Music for the Solo competition will be provided by UDO Australia and be timed as follows: U/8, U/9, U/10, U/12 & U/15 = Maximum of 2 minutes. U/18, Open & Golden = Maximum of 3 minutes.

Number of entrants per Heat may vary depending on number of contestants on the day. Any variations will be made at the discretion of UDO Australia and will be communicated to all entrants prior to commencement of competition.

DUOS

The Duo competition will be held after the Solo competition. Each Duo entry will be performed separately from the other Duo entrants.

A maximum of two (2) or three (3) minutes, depending on your age division, shall be allotted for each dance routine. You shall also be given 1 minute prior to actual presentation for preparation of any props or equipment needed on stage. Props should be reasonably light and not over-sized for easy and fast mobility in and out of the performance area.

Music for the Duo competition needs to be provided by the Duo and be timed as follows: U/8, U/9, U/10, U/12 & U/15 = Maximum of 2 minutes. U/18, Open & Golden = Maximum of 3 minutes.

Each Duo must furnish their audio file containing the music they shall be using. Audio file must have been emailed to UDO Australia via info@udoaustralia.com.au by Sunday, May 03, 2020. A backup file of your music on USB only is strongly recommended to be brought on the day.

Dancers should be in costume, warmed up, and ready to perform at least one hour before their scheduled performance.

The music used cannot have swearing or inappropriate language.

The music should be balanced at a set level for playing as the DJ will make no adjustments on the day for sound. If you need more information or help with this then please contact us at info@udoaustralia.com.au

The music has to be cut to the correct time limit for the age division entered:

U/8, U/9, U/10, U/12 & U/15 – max. 2 minute routines

U/18, Open & Golden – max. 3 minute routines

It is the Choreographer / Team Leader’s responsibility to ensure that the music is emailed to UDO Australia via info@udoaustralia.com.au by Sunday, May 03, 2020. A backup file of your music on USB only is strongly recommended to be brought on the day.

The winner of each Duo age division will receive entry to the World Championships in Blackpool UK, August 2020 and the Asia-Pacific Championships in China, November 2020.

TEAMS

PLEASE NOTE: Each team can consist of a minimum of 5 entrants up to a maximum of 26 entrants.

The Team competition will be held after the Duo competition. Each Team entry will be performed separately from the other Team entrants.

A maximum of two (2) or three (3) minutes, depending on your age division, shall be allotted for each dance routine and presentation. You shall also be given 1 minute prior to actual presentation for preparation of any props or equipment needed on stage. Props should be reasonably light and not over-sized for easy and fast mobility in and out of the performance area.

Music for the Team competition needs to be provided by the Team and be timed as follows: U/8, U/9, U/10, U/12 & U/15 = Maximum of 2 minutes. U/18, Open & Golden = Maximum of 3 minutes.

Each Team must furnish their audio file containing the music they shall be using. Audio file must have been emailed to UDO Australia via info@udoaustralia.com.au by Sunday May 03, 2020. A backup file of your music on USB only is strongly recommended to be brought on the day.
